Palestine Legal staff have organized and participated in a number of webinars this year on topics from FBI spying and frivolous legal complaints against Palestine advocates to the Right to Boycott and Black liberation.

Demilitarize our Campuses: Ending Repression at Universities hosted by the Palestinian Campaign for Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel. The struggle for justice in Palestine is part of people’s movements across the world. Director Dima Khalidi moderated a conversation of students and academics organizing against Israeli apartheid as well as the militarization of campuses.


Truth to Power and Power’s Untruth: Challenging Silencing Strategies in the Palestinian Struggle hosted by the American Studies Association. Staff attorney Zoha Khalili joined this ASA Freedom Course, which brought together scholars, academics, journalists and legal experts for a report-back and skill-share about some of the latest attempts to silence Palestine speech in activism and academia.


Targeting Transnational Activism for Palestinian Rights hosted by Front Line Defenders. As part of the Dublin Arts & Human Rights Festival, director Dima Khalidi joined a discussion on the transnational targeting of human rights defenders working to advance Palestinian human rights - both in Palestine and around the world.


We Will Not Be Silenced - NYU Webinar. Senior staff attorney Radhika Sainath joined an NYU panel on Zoom’s censorship of Palestinian voices and narratives. The talk itself was censored by Zoom on the day of the event, forcing organizers to record the event privately and denying faculty and students the opportunity to engage in a critical conversation. The recorded talk was published to YouTube.


Social Media in the Crosshairs: the Effort to Redefine Antisemitism to Quash Criticism of Israel hosted by the Foundation for Middle East Peace. Senior staff attorney Liz Jackson joined Lara Friedman of FMEP and Peter Beinart to discuss efforts by over 120 pro-Israel groups lobbied Facebook to label criticism of Israel as hate speech by using a widely-discredited, overbroad definition of antisemitism.


Abolition and Liberation featuring Angela Davis & Jamal Juma’ hosted by Friends of Sabeel North America. This webinar discussed the connections between Black Lives Matter calls to defund the police and abolish the prison industrial complex, and Palestinian calls to tear down all apartheid walls and free Palestine. Moderated by Kristian Davis Bailey of Black for Palestine and Palestine Legal.


The Right to Narrate: No Justice without Palestinian Voices by the Invest in Justice for All Coalition. This policy roundtable featured Palestinian grassroots organizers and advocates discussing what it means for Palestinians to claim their right to narrate, to tell their stories, and to speak back with clear demands for an end to US complicity in Palestinian oppression. Featuring Michael Ratner Justice Fellow Amira Mattar. (August 2020)
